August 25
I agreed to go shopping with Jamie on Monday, as she was looking to find some new (un-smelly) black flats and a dress. We met on campus first, so we could Skype with our respective significant others before heading out for the afternoon. My Skype wasn’t really working, but I sort of got to talk to Dave for a little while.
Just after lunch, Susi (from the RCT the previous weekend) rang me to see if I wanted to meet up for a drink or something. I told her about my plans with Jamie, and we decided we could all meet up somewhere in town later in the afternoon.
Jamie and I headed out not long after 1, and made for Cuba Street. The weather decided to be bipolar, and went back and forth between sunny, windy, and misty. But I suppose that’s Wellington for you.
We ended up meeting Susi in Glassons nearly by accident, and she decided to help us on Jamie’s mission for shoes. We went in and out of a few shops, but Jamie and I both felt a little bad for dragging Susi along with us. She, however, didn’t seem to mind.
Jamie got some clothes, but the black flats remained elusive, no matter how many shoe shops we tried. I found a pair of dark skinny jeans for 20 bucks, and couldn’t pass them up. Jamie tried on the same pair, but decided they were too tight. I told her they looked hot, but obviously my opinion of her attractiveness was not enough. Heh.
After our light shopping, Susi suggested a drink. Jamie and I don’t drink, so we found a pub/cafĂ© and had hot drinks and juice, instead. It was a cozy little place, and my hot chocolate warmed me up nicely after the chilly rain falling outside. It was nice to just sit down and chat with Susi. She’s a very interesting, lovely lady, and I regretted that we only spent a short time chatting.
Susi graciously picked up the bill, and then we said our goodbyes. Susi headed back up to Brooklyn (where she was staying for a few days with Erica Challis and her husband), and Jamie and I continued down Willis Street to Lambton Quay. We still never found those flats.
Soon, all the shops began closing for the night, so we decided to call it quits. We took a bus back to Courtenay Place, and grabbed dinner at Burger Fuel using some free burger coupons Jayne had given to us.
We then headed back to my place for some chocolate and one more episode of The Office. I really am hooked… damn.
Jamie left around 8 so as to catch her bus back to Karen’s place. I got to work on packing, as I was leaving for Aussie at 4:30 the next morning.
